How to use commands in terminal?

Having issues with the commands in the terminal . Does anyone have suggestions. I tried with sudo and su and all i get is , " its not authenticated."

Are you using a USB stick? If so, this is a known issue. Run passwd to (temporarily) set a password for the live user.

this same prob. is for me also . but i am using the endless OS not the usb stick
